Shedding and peeling are only one facet of a chemical peel treatment and are actually mostly a side effect of a peel instead of it's main functions.
While a good shed is satisfying, what's more important is what the peel is doing under the surface to promote cell turnover & cell to cell communication, remove senescent cells, kill free radicals & bacteria, inhibit pigmentation and stimulate cellular regeneration & renewal.
If you come in for professional services or exfoliate at home regularly, you may end up with very low/no shedding! But trust us when we say you're still getting an excellent treatment!
If you'd like to increase your chances of shedding and increase a peel's overall efficacy, I recommend you add on a Vitamin A Peel Booster when you book your peel!
We've all seen the microneedling videos all over social media where the person's face is entirely covered in blood. Here's the deal... overly aggressive microneedling treatments cause subcutaneous scarring that contributes to the breakdown of tissue over time. Also, depending on where you live, microneedling may not be a regulated service. Which means that any Tom, Jane or Clancy can pick up a device and go to town on somebody's face. This also means that your microneedling provider may not have been properly trained in or following sanitation regulations, opening you up to the risk of infection with HIV, Hepatitis and other blood borne diseases and infections. Rest assured that I have been properly trained in Microneedling procedures as well as sanitation procedures and I take your health and welfare seriously!
I also do not provide PRP (platelet rich plasma) with any of my treatments as I feel that PRP is an outdated and potentially dangerous modality with the advancement of sterile, ethically sourced stem cell/growth factor/exosome technology. Growth Factor/Exosome activity is what people are trying to get from PRP but PRP is much less potent, much more messy and poses a risk of infection if your provider is not following sanitation precautions. If growth factors are what you're after, ask about adding ethically sourced human stem cell factors or vegan growth factors to any of your services!
